Stunning preliminary work, as interesting, in a way, as the finished painting.
The painting always reminds me of Millais' Ophelia, what with it's meticulous depiction of plantlife. Barry, by chosing a higher angle, has the added feature of the reflections cast in the water by overhanging trees.
